Rock Necklaces

I have always had a love of rocks and a want to show their beauty. The idea for rock necklaces came from past years or wearing specific necklaces for different reasons. In high school I wore a necklace with a turtle on it as a good luck charm symbolizing strength, patience and calm, all things I wanted to achieve on that team and within that sport. Within a long-term relationship, both she and I wore specific corresponding necklaces as a way to represent each other when distance pulled us apart. As the relationship ended, I was in the search of a new necklace to represent my new stage in life. The rocks within these photos come from three main areas: bought from store, Griggs Reservoir in Columbus OH, and Point Pleasant Beach in Ocean County NJ. Each were collected for their own specific beauty from size, texture and composition. The search ended when I found the rock within the fifth photo; one that already had a natural hole within it to place the string instead of disrupting the form by drilling into it. That necklace currently represents who I am today, one that has been worn and eroded from their environment and shaped into who I am today; one who's open to change.
