This project includes six different sculptures made using two different constructing techniques: pinching and coiling.
(1.) Pinch Pot Bowl - This bowl was made using one single ball of clay that was continuously pinched thinner and thinner until it was made to resemble a bowl thrown on a ceramics wheel, though with an asymmetrical lip to showcase the imperfection of the pinch technique.
(2.) Pinch Pot Sculpture - This sculpture was made using one single ball of clay that was continuously pinched into a vase-like sculpture relying on symmetry to relate the top and bottom while incorporating texture.
(3.) Coil Pot Sculpture - This sculpture was created by adding and smoothing coils into a form utilizing abstraction and spontaneity as primary elements.
(4.) Multiple Pinch Pot Sculpture - This sculpture was created from a single ball of clay that was multiple pinch pots were opened from the same central point in different directions and different sizes that were then continues and closed off to create the stacked rock illusion.
(5.) Large Coil Vase - This vase was created by adding and smoothing coils. It's primary element is the connection between the positive shape of the narrow oval in the lip of the piece and the negative shape of the narrow oval in the center.
(6.) 5 Part Whistle Flute - This flute was created using my knowledge of creating whistles of different sizes and shapes and utilizing the volume and the corresponding pitch to create 5 different whistles with 5 different pitches in order.
